Join Lisa and Brenda in an engaging discussion using their expertise and sharing their own experiences of many years to help recognize red flags, early warning signs and elder abuse when working with seniors and how we can all work together to help provide safety and peace of mind for our clients

Brenda Shorkend

Brenda Shorkend is a Certified Aging Life Care Manager™/Geriatric Care Manager with over 25 years of experience working with older people and people with disabilities and their families. She has a background in Rehabilitation Psychology and is a member of the Aging Life Care Association. She has worked in a wide variety of hospital and community settings, including Huntington Hospital's Senior Care Network.

Brenda has broad knowledge of local resources and services. Brenda is a strong advocate for her clients. She helps to tailor unique solutions for each individual that maximize their independence and autonomy while ensuring their safety and well-being. She emphasizes the importance of building a team or circle of care that includes family, friends and trusted advisors. 

Lisa Bricker 

For over 25 years, Lisa Bricker has been working with accomplished professionals as a coach and consultant. Now, her life’s work is advocacy for caregivers and compassionate placement for their loved ones. Lisa created Gently Guided, LLC as part of a deep service for families to help them transition forward with compassion. She has served hundreds of families of diverse needs as a Senior Care Consultant and Alzheimer’s and Dementia Placement Specialist.

Families feel peace of mind as she takes the burden of “feeling alone” off of their shoulders. Lisa “gets it” because she is a family caregiver herself. Lisa is certified as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation and is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) from the Coaches Training Institute in San Rafael, CA.

She has been on the Coaching Faculty for the Executive MBA Program for Loyola Marymount University. She’s a public speaker, support group leader and serves on the public policy committee for Alzheimer’s Los Angeles on the local and state level.

Laura Ellis, CPO®, of Organized by Ellis, is a professional organizer based in Los Angeles. Her passion is creating organized environments that empower her clients to life a simplified life. Her style is aimed at original solutions tailored to each individual’s lifestyle, always with an eye for good design. She cares about her clients and their stuff and never judges either. She’s a former dancer and likes to bring a little spunk to the organizing party!

A 5-time Board member and Past President NAPO-LA. She began organizing in NYC when she worked as an Executive assistant for CEO’s. It was her job to keep these top dogs prepared and functioning at peak performance. When she realized getting people organized was her passion, she branched out to work with clients in their NYC homes to maximize their space. Eventually she moved to LA where she started Organized by Ellis.
